A secret sanctuary
in the Devonshire countryside
Sunnyside Cottage, Weare Giffard
A Grade II Listed Retreat
This 18th-century Olde English Cottage sits within private gated grounds in the quiet Devonshire village of Weare Giffard, where a babbling brook runs alongside ancient trees and open countryside stretches to the horizon. The setting offers complete privacy - your own slice of rural England, accessed through a private entrance and surrounded by enclosed gardens.
A Historic Property
Original beamed ceilings and slate floors speak to the cottage's heritage, while the wood-burning fireplace anchors the sitting room in warmth and character. Period features blend seamlessly with modern comfort: the kitchen comes fully equipped with everything from a stainless steel oven to wine glasses, while gas central heating ensures year-round cosiness alongside the romantic fireplace. The cottage provides genuine luxury touches often missing from holiday lets: quality bed linen, fluffy towels, a hairdryer, iron, and even cooking basics like oils and seasonings. Books and reading materials add to the home-from-home feeling.
Accommodation
Two bedrooms overlook the surrounding countryside. The master bedroom houses a handcrafted king-size bed with an adjoining compact en-suite (toilet and basin), while the single bedroom features built-in wardrobes and chest of drawers. The main bathroom downstairs offers a spacious walk-in shower. The cottage sleeps up to three guests comfortably, with ample clothes storage and all linens provided.
Gardens & Outdoor Space
The enclosed garden extends to the brook's edge, where outdoor furniture and dining areas allow you to breakfast by the water or enjoy evening drinks surrounded by the sounds of the countryside. The private grounds ensure complete tranquillity with no overlooking neighbours or passing traffic.
